Part of the fun and the "art" of SteamFresh Baking is figuring out what combination works best for you, knowing that you have all of these options to play with, for a healthy variety for family & friends! - Laurie, Danville Ca
Silicon Mold - First of course you will want to wash it and then before each use lightly "season" it (coat it) with coconut oil before each cook to prevent your donuts from sticking. As you break it in you will not have to do it every time but for the first dozen or we recommend seasoning it. Your mold can withstand temperatures up to 450℉ and is perfect for oven baking as well. If you choose to use the oven we recommend using a cookie sheet under the mold to support it and be careful as it will be hot when your bake is complete.
Bamboo Drying Rack - This piece is hand made so be sure to wash it by hand and avoid the dishwasher. It wont last forever!
The VitaDome - This is a microwave accessory. If you choose to use the microwave for baking and you find that there is inconstancies in your bakes, try covering the donuts during the cooking process to help even the cook. Older microwaves or low wattage microwaves sometimes need a little assist. Otherwise it works well to cover your donuts as they sit on the counter for cooling.
Tips & Suggestions
Adding Ingredients - Adding ingredients is simple; just add up to 2 tbsp per serving of your favorite super fruit, nuts, seeds, herbs, granola, etc. Try to choose naturally sweet ingredients and skip adding additional sweetener!
Adding More Protein - If your diet requires even more protein, you can easily add your favorite protein such as: nuts, seeds, protein powder, etc by and/or equally exchanging the amount of Dr. Bob’s Mix for the desired amount of added protein.
Adding More Fiber - Same equal exchange concept as adding more protein. Consider adding ground flaxseed, prunes, psyllium, chia seeds, coconut flakes, etc for a higher fiber Dr. Bob’s Mix Foods.
Adding Cultured Foods - Consider adding 2 tbsp of dairy free yogurt to the Basic Recipe or putting your favorite yogurt on top of any of your SteamFresh Baked foods.
Adding Oils or Healthy Fats - If you add healthy fats or oils you may need a slightly longer SteamBaking time. If you use oils that tend to solidify such as coconut oil, you may want to briefly microwave it to liquefy it before adding into the mix so that you can get a thorough mix prior to your cook.
Changing Taste - For different flavors add any of your favorite spices, herbs, and/or seasonings. You can also change flavors by substituting your favorite drink for the water in your recipes. People enjoy adding their favorite beverages as a healthy juice, milk, tea, et.al.
Equal Exchanging Ingredients - If you exceed adding 1/4 cup of ingredients ... do an equal exchange. For example, if you want to add 2 additional tbsp of hemp protein powder then reduce Dr. Bob’s Mix by 2 tbsp, and then proceed as usual. This equal exchange works well with just about any powder or dry ingredient you add to your Dr. Bob’s Foods.
Substituting Cold Liquids - When adding cold liquids you may see that you will need a slightly longer cook time. We encourage you to be creative and substitute healthy liquids such as: coconut milk, hemp milk, almond milk, yogurt, or fresh squeezed juice for the filtered water in your recipes if you desire to do so. These substitutions will not only change he texture and taste, they will add infinite variety to your Dr. Bob’s food creations.
Toppings - People love putting healthy nut butters, chocolate chips, carob chips, fruit, sauces, icings, yogurt, spices, or any other favorite topping on their Dr. Bob’s Mix foods while they are still hot. As always, you can make it your way easily!
