I have tried about every diet out there and nothing ever worked, I mean really do diets ever work? And I have tried to lose weight since I was thirteen; even spent years in counseling about my weight and that didn't work either. So it is still unbelievable to me that just by going on an "unDiet" doing nothing different than eating two delicious chocolate donuts for breakfast I am losing weight, I have lost my sugar cravings, I have more energy, I sleep better, my moods are better, and my long standing chronic acne cyst condition has totally cleared up! I think you should call it the miracle diet actually Dr. Bob, you are my hero!

I Love Donuts, but a "Donut Diet"?!
Donuts are one of the greatest sugar-fat-flour combinations ever invented … and they are also one of the deadliest things you can put into your body, or your children’s body. Most people don’t believe me when I tell them, I have regained my health, cleared my long standing chronic acne cysts and opened the door to a better life simply by going on a delicious unDiet … an eating approach that has about the most delicious food I have ever eaten! Truly Dr. Bob's unDiet has been a life saver for me. So of course I choose my favorite, chocolate donuts for my delicious unDiet foods everyday on the unDiet. I mean if chocolate donuts would work, any of Dr. Bob’s desserts will work, right?
I never thought I would be doing something like this but you know how it is when you've seen the light (or in my case tasted the donuts) you just want to tell everyone about it.
So here’s my story … the short version … trust me you don’t want to hear the long version. I am trying to forget most of it myself.
At the age of 9, I was placed on my first diet. At 11 I was meeting with a dietitian no less than twice a week to review and be critiqued about my eating habits. At the age of 13 my doctor sat me down to tell me that I was considered obese. Each new dietary program that was implemented failed. My mother was utterly embarrassed that her child was fat and with that as the basis for our relationship each new weight loss idea that was put into motion let my self-esteem and body down further. I was convinced at a young age that the word DIET was likely to be followed by some traumatic event and that the authority figures critically assessing my diet and me as a person were all wrong.
Growing up in New England was problematic due to an ice cream shop or Dunkin Donuts on every corner. I especially loved those beautiful round sugary love objects. And don’t forget Ben & Jerry’s from Vermont, you know Ben and Jerry, well that was my perfect love triangle (donuts were my perfect love circle). The flawless harmony of creamy deliciousness balanced to perfection with incredible edible treats as if every pint was the ultimate dairy yin and yang.
Oh boy did my soul love it, although, my thighs loved it more. In New England there are more donut and ice cream shops per capita than anywhere else in the United States, commonly known facts to a proud Bostonian. I mean that’s where Dunkin Donuts started for crying out loud, and they own Baskin Robbins too … obviously proving my point. Did I mention Sicilian as well? Growing up third generation off the boat from Sicily, every moment was strategically centered around food. That is the culture and the belief of sharing with family, while breaking bread. FOOD WAS LOVE … LOVE WAS FOOD.
Then I moved to this beautiful island of Kauai. It has really changed my perspective on a lot of things, one in particular, food from the farm to the table. After living in the South for five years of fried everything under the sun diet, I headed straight for Hawaii. I got a job at the biggest health food store on the island and walked directly into the organic twilight zone with health “experts” preaching their theories on every isle. I learned so much from this and from every direction. With all of the eye opening experiences I had at work, I decided to go into every day with an open mind and an open heart.
Well, It wasn’t long after that when I met Dr. Bob. He was a regular customer at the store. One thing I noticed right away was that he always had the same temperament when he came in ... even if it was raining outside, he had a smile. If it was sunny he had a smile, and always observant of others around him. Well, one day Dr. Bob told me he had an idea that I might be interested in sitting down with him and hearing about. Shortly after I was sitting with Dr. B discussing when I would be starting the … drum roll please … Dr. Bob’s Delicious Donut Diet!!!
I couldn’t believe it at first but what I knew was I could really get into eating chocolate donuts for breakfast every morning. Then I had a flashback of the past attempts of my weight loss - which then forced me to think about my undeniable failures at losing weight … I was in! Why not eat chocolate donuts for breakfast every morning? It seemed like a win-win for me, and it has been. I lost over 30 pounds in 60 days with doing nothing different than eating two of the most delicious donuts I have ever eaten for breakfast! Now, I can finally plan family events without them centering around food. But more importantly I have energy like I never had before, my face is clear for the first time in my life since puberty, people are constantly telling me how healthy (and even beautiful?) I look, asking me what is my secret, and on and on. I am feeling like the center of attention, in a good way for the first time in my life. And now I really do have a life. See why I have become a total donut evangelist, I want everyone to taste this, and more so just to be healthy!
But perhaps what this diet has taught me most of all, or I should say – What Dr. Bob has taught me is that food is not just about the taste, but what you are putting into your body could not only change your life for the better, it could literally save your life!
